All About Home Brew

Homebrewing typically refers to the brewing of beer, (Home Brew), and other alcoholic beverages on a very small scale as a hobby for personal consumption, free distribution at social gatherings, amateur brewing competitions or other non-commercial reasons. Home brew is a hobby among many Americans, and grows yearly in popularity.

In 1979 President Jimmy Carter singed a bill into Law repealing the Federal Law restricting Home Brew of beer and wine. However states have the ability to legislate on their own, so make sure you check you local laws before home brewing beer. The American Home brewers Assoication has state stautes, which you can find here.

Home Brewed beers, are very different from store bought beers. They for example, can contain a higher alcohol content that most store bought beers. They may also contain a sediment at the bottom at the end of the brewing process.

Home Brew has a generally more active flavor, as it is a fresh beer. If you would like to learn more about home brewed beer, read the Wikipedia article on Home Brew here.
